Press Release from CPSO - On January 18, at approximately around 9:00 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a home on Gulf Highway in Lake Charles regarding a report of a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the victim and her boyfriend, Sean L. Collett, 24, 203 Cobb Road, Lake Charles, had an argument that turned into a physical altercation.
The victim advised deputies Collett dragged her through the living room, choked her, and also struck her several times in the lower jaw and back causing severe bruising. When the victim attempted to flee, Collett smashed her hand with a door and grabbed her arm, leaving numerous bruise.
During further investigation, deputies discovered during the altercation, the victim's dog began barking at Collett, which led to Collett throwing the dog against the walls several times, killing the dog.
The victim was treated at a local hospital for her injuries and released.
Collett was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2nd degree battery; and aggravated animal cruelty.
Judge Ron Ware set Collett's bond at $30,000.
CPSO Sr. Cpl. Chris Ramos was the arresting deputy on this case.
