CPSO arrests Iowa man for 2nd degree battery

Police say a 44-year-old Iowa man bit off a potion of his girlfriend's finger and beat her.

On March 29, at 9:00 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a home in Iowa in reference to a domestic battery.

Authorities say there was a verbal altercation between the victim and her boyfriend, Nathaniel J. Edwards, 44, of Iowa. Edwards bit off a portion of the victim's finger, and struck the victim in the face, severely damaging her front bottom teeth. Edwards fled the scene before deputies arrived.

An arrest warrant was issued for Edwards and on March 30 he was located at a family member's home and arrested without incident.

Edwards was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2nd degree battery and released on a $25,000 bond set by Judge Robert Wyatt.
