NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - A biologist says coyotes are a problem at
Acadiana Regional Airport.
Zachary Lissard told the Iberia Parish Airport Authority on
Tuesday that coyotes are plentiful around the airport, and airplane
lights can make them freeze on a runway.
The Daily Iberian says he told the board it can get state
nuisance wildlife permits to kill the coyotes.
He's five months into a yearlong study of wildlife. The Federal
Aviation Administration provided $85,000 for the study because of
complaints about birds attracted by a waste transfer station near
the north end of the runway.
