BENTON, La. (AP) - A state judge in Bossier Parish has set an Aug. 8 trial for an Oregon man accused of trying to kill a state trooper after a high-speed chase in 2007.
The Bossier Press-Tribune reported that 33-year-old Adam Jackson, of Portland, will stand trial on charges filed against him in September 2007.
State police said they chased a stolen SUV driven by Jackson on Louisiana Highway 80 and onto Interstate 20 at speeds up to 110 mph. The officers say Jackson turned the vehicle toward a trooper, nearly striking him, after officers deployed spiked sticks in a bid to stop the vehicle.
If found guilty, Jackson could get 50 years in jail.
