ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - Police say a homeless man and his
pregnant girlfriend are accused of leaving her 3-year-old
special-needs child alone in an Alexandria motel room while they
went to commit a bank heist.
Police booked 36-year-old Jason Jackson,
from Jefferson Parish, with armed robbery and three counts of
attempted first-degree murder of a police officer after he led
police on a chase that reached speeds of more than 100 mph.
Police say 24-year-old Ronya Boyd, also from Jefferson Parish,
faces a charge of armed robbery.
Police stopped a car Thursday following a robbery at Union Bank.
Police say Boyd got out of the car, but Jackson slide into the
driver's seat and sped away. Jackson was arrested after spikes were
used to stop the car on Interstate 49 south of Alexandria.
