COTEAU, La. (AP) - Three candidates have interviewed to be the first paid chief of the Coteau Volunteer Fire Department. They are awaiting the district board's decision.
According to The Courier, current Chief Russell DiSalvo Jr., Assistant Fire Chief Jayson Ray and Capt. Dave Domangue have all interviewed in front of the board. A decision will be announced at Tuesday's meeting.
DiSalvo has been the department's volunteer chief since 1993.
Board members say the 35-member department has been expanding. It now protects enough homes and businesses to warrant a paid chief.
The department has averaged between 100 and 125 calls in recent years.
