SULPHUR, La. (AP) - The Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office says a man who was being booked into the Sulphur jail apparently killed himself.
Coroner's chief investigator Zeb Johnson says he cannot release the man's name because police have not told him whether the man's hospitalized father has been told of his death.
He said Sunday that nobody else was in the cell where the man was found hanging Thursday.
Johnson says the man's body was found within an hour or so after he was brought to the jail, and deputies hadn't finished booking him.
Police spokesman Mel Estess was unavailable for comment.
