Lafayette police are at L. J. Alleman at this hour to conduct an emergency drill. Lafayette Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper says the drill was the result of someone finding a note Wednesday written on a bathroom wall in which someone threatened to "blow up" the school. Cooper says officials searched the campus Thursday and found no dangerous materials. School board officials say officers searched student's bags for weapons. Cooper adds the school system and police are using this as an opportunity to practice safety protocol and to show students that threats such as this one are taken seriously.
