Convicted burglar runs from courtroom

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies are still searching for a convicted burglar who fled from the courthouse after learning he was headed back to jail.
Col. John Fortunato tells The Times-Picayune Randy Riggins, of St. Rose, is wanted on charges of simple escape and resisting arrest by flight.
Fortunato says Riggins bolted from a third-floor courtroom Friday. He was there for a probation revocation hearing state District Court Judge Michael Mentz.
Mentz ordered Riggins taken into custody until a June 13 revocation hearing during which he potentially could take Riggins off probation and order him to serve the original 12-year sentence. Upon hearing that news, Riggins paced the room, then ran out of the courtroom.
