VACHERIE, La. (AP) - St. James Parish deputies have arrested a Convent man in connection with a shooting at the Magnolia Housing Complex in Vacherie that left one man dead and a woman wounded.
Sheriff Willy Martin tells The Advocate 26-year-old Joseph Monroe Johnson was booked Monday with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Martin says deputies responding to a 911 call early Friday and found 39-year-old Aaron Jones and 34-year Christina Gale with gunshot wounds.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene and Gale was treated at a hospital and released.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
