In Lafayette, a construction company takes a nearly twenty thousand dollar loss after someone stole copper from its work site.
The owner of Venus Construction Company, Patrick Colvin says earlier this week someone stole about three thousand dollars worth of copper from the home that he's currently working on.
In the past three months ten thousand dollars worth of copper has been stolen.
Colvin says after replacing the stolen copper and repairing the damage thieves caused, that's another 10-thousand dollars out of pocket.
Since December police have been investigating but have not found any suspects.
Colvin says to prevent copper theft businesses like scrap yards should only buy from license professionals such as electricians and plumbers.
