Construction Behind on Roundabout at Hwy 93/98

Construction of a round-about just south of Cankton could be set back even further. The intersection of Highway 93 and Highway 98 has been closed since January. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said the project is already two weeks behind schedule because of internal problems with the contractor, H&S Construction.
But now DOTD said the asphalt that was recently laid didn't pass inspection. Workers sent the report to engineers in Baton Rouge who will decide if the asphalt has be torn up and replaced, or if it can stay as is. It will take an additional two days to fix the asphalt if necessary.
