Lafayette, LA - Less money on gas, more exercise, fresh air and avoiding traffic standstills - these are just a few perks of commuting to work or school on a bike. But many would-be bike commuters have questions or concerns about everything from staying safe to what traffic laws apply when it comes to riding their bikes on public roads.
That's why BikeLafayette and Lafayette Consolidated Government are hosting a Commuting Basics Workshop this Wednesday, April 3, from 6 to 7 p.m. The workshop will explore the benefits of bike commuting, gear, route selection, traffic rules, and other frequently asked questions. The event will be held in the Multipurpose Room of the Rosa Parks Transportation Center at 101 Jefferson St. in Lafayette.
"The Commuting Basics Workshop is offered as a part of Lafayette's Bike Month celebration," Laura Phillips of LCG said. "We're looking forward to kicking off a great month of events and activities by providing some great tips and information to prepare folks for Bike to Work Week, April 8-12, and for anyone interested in regular commutes by bike."
Those interested in attending the workshop can contact Jen Steele, President of Bike Lafayette, at Jen@BikeLafayette.org.
