Community Leaders Recognized at League of Women Voters Soiree

Seven community leaders were honored at the 2nd Annual Just Desserts Awards Soiree, an event of the League of Women Voters of Lafayette held November 12. Honorees are recognized for their outstanding accomplishments, excellence in performance, and leadership through motivating others, in keeping with the missions and policy commitments of the League.

This year's recipients are as follows:

Safeguarding Democracy: Virginia W. deGravelles
Increasing Community Dialogue: Rev. Lloyd Joiner, Jr.
Mobilizing People to Take Action (joint award): Danica Adams, Elizabeth "E.B." Brooks
Improving the Quality of Education (joint award): Judge Thomas Duplantier, Michelle Breaux
Making a Lifetime of Difference: Theresa V. Davis

The event, which offers a menu consisting only of desserts, was held at a La Carte in the Oil Center.
