The Lafayette Parish School Board wrapped up another round of "Community Dialogues" Thursday night. The meetings serve as a forum for the public to interact with the architects and engineers working on the School Board's master plan for facilities.
CSRS, the engineering and architecture firm hired to work on the master plan presented an evaluation of school facilities in the parish. The schools were evaluated based on their enrollment, and age of the facility.
Conditions were rated on a 1-5 scale, with 1 being in the best condition and 5 being in the worst. Among the 23 elementary schools in the parish, 17 out of the 23 received a 4 or a 5 rating. Among the 11 middle schools, 5 were declared to have major or extensive deficiencies. Of the 5 high schools, 3 received a 4 or a 5 rating.
The third round of community dialogue forums will be held in mid-January. In all five rounds are scheduled, and will be held through May.
