LARC's Acadian Village will host The Color Vibe 5K race followed by a Cajun Mardi Gras celebration this Saturday, February 22, from 8am-1pm. The event will benefit the LARC organization, which assists adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve self-sufficiency through vocational and residential services.
The Color Vibe is a color blast 5K race that is all about having fun and getting covered from top to toe with splashes of color pandemonium. Participants will get covered with vibrant colored powder along the race route and have a blast becoming "human rainbows."
Following the 5K, a Cajun Mardi Gras celebration will be held inside Acadian Village with activities such as a traditional Courir de Mardi Gras demonstration, mini parade, educational Mardi Gras traditions and activities, children's arts and crafts, live Cajun music, and food provided by local food trucks. The public is encouraged to dress in costume and bring decorated bicycles, wagons, and carts to participate in the mini parade.
This event is free to the public. Acadian Village will have custom Mardi Gras beads on sale for $3 to support the event. Sponsors include CETCO Energy Services, The Independent, Onebane Law Firm, Gulf Coast Bank, PHI Inc., Raising Cane's, Schilling Distributors, and Coca Cola of Lafayette.
