Coat and Blanket Drive a Success

More than 100 coats and blankets will go to those in need...KATC'S Chris Welty was in St. Martinville for the donation drive and for the distribution.

Temperatures across Acadiana this winter have been like a roller coaster ride...though recently we have seen pleasant temperatures, there are still many cold days ahead.

"Some people aren't able to keep themselves warm this year."

And to help solve that problem "Divaz with Class" collected coats and blankets.

"They really need it...it's a lot of older people that are cold and they just don't have the means to get blankets."

More than 100 jackets were collected here in St. Martinville, and those that we spoke with say they are thankful that others are so giving.

Richard Filer says, "I really appreciate that...not everybody is able to have these things, so it is real nice that they are out here to give it to us...thank God for that."

Sergeant at Arms Darcina Touriac says she knows in her heart that the community appreciates the clubs efforts. "We feel better at night knowing that we kept somebody warm. it's just one way of giving back."
