CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - Coastal Carolina forward Chris Gradnigo has been arrested and charged with third degree assault and battery.
Campus police arrested the 6-foot-7 player around 5 a.m. Sunday. The details of the charges were not immediately available Monday morning.
The senior from Lake Charles La., averaged nearly 15 points and just over 6 rebounds per game this season for the Chanticleers.
Coach Cliff Ellis told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach he's still trying to find out what happened and could not talk about the situation. Ellis says he doesn't know if Gradnigo will be eligible if the team receives a bid for an invitational tournament.
Gradnigo received his undergraduate degree from Coastal Carolina in December. He had transferred to Coastal after three seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette.
