Coast Guard searches for N.O. bridge jumper

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard and New Orleans Harbor
Police are searching the Mississippi River for a woman who
reportedly jumped from the bridge connecting the river's east and
west banks.
The Coast Guard received a call just before 1 p.m. Wednesday
from an off-duty Coast Guard officer about a woman who had jumped
off the Crescent City Connection bridge. The woman was reported to
be motionless on the water's surface, then went under.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans says a rescue helicopter and
response boat were sent to the area and are searching waters near
the bridge but so far have not found her.
