NEW ORLEANS - A good Samaritan and Coast Guard crew assisted in the rescue of six people from a burning vessel 46 miles south southwest of Dauphin Island, Alabama, Saturday.
The Coast Guard received a report from the good Samaritan vessel Blue Water Cowboy that a 27-foot contender had an engine fire. The Blue Water Cowboy crew reported three of the contender vessel's crew was injured from the vessel fire. The fire was reportedly extinguished.
The good Samaritan crew transferred the three burn victims aboard for medical care. A Coast Guard Station Dauhpin Island 45-foot Response Boat - Medium crew rendezvoused with the good Samaritan crew, embarked the burn victims and administered first aid.
The RB-S crew took the three injured to the station where local emergency medical services took them to University of South Alabama Medical Center for further medical care.
The conditions of the three were unknown.
