Healthcare, community, business, trade and faith-based organizations from the Lafayette area will gather for a formal launch of the Louisiana Healthcare Education Coalition on Thursday, June 27, 2013.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) is responsible for the most sweeping changes to our nation's healthcare system in nearly 50 years. The Louisiana Healthcare Education Coalition officially launched in March to help Louisianians understand healthcare reform and the health insurance marketplace, which will open for enrollment in October 2013 with coverage to begin in 2014. Specifically, the coalition provides education and information about PPACA, the major drivers of healthcare cost, the critical importance of personal wellness, and the need for access to quality healthcare.
The Lafayette event is the latest expansion of the coalition. Since the launch in March, the coalition's efforts to educate the community have included participation in health fairs and other events, engagement in Web and social media channels and through guest speaking opportunities, which can be requested online at the LHEC website, www.lhec.net.
The event will be held at 537 Cajundome Blvd, Suite 209, Lafayette, LA, 70506, Thursday, June 27, 2013.
