In Acadia Parish, crews are cleaning up an oil spill in Crowley.
The oil started spilling Saturday from a storage tank near the intersection of West Mill Street and South Western Avenue. Oil has already made its way through drainage canals and into Bayou Blanc.
Contractors were hired to bring in a skimmer and absorbant pads for clean up. As a pro-caution, crews placed boom to prevent the oil from spreading into nearby Bayou Plauquemin.
It's still unclear who is responsible for the spill, and the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Environmental Quality are investigating.
They say the spill is contained and it should be cleaned up in about three weeks.
