BP is holding free classes this week at the Berwick Civic Complex for anyone interested in volunteering to help with the Gulf of Mexico's oil spill efforts. Two-hour classes will be held twice daily, Monday through Friday, at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Participants will be given an overview of safety and hazards involved in working to clean up the oil spill, said Joey Long of the Petroleum Education Council. The council is conducting the classes for BP. Those who wish to help with the cleanup must attend one of these classes. No preregistration is required, and participants only have to bring a picture ID. Further information about helping with the spill will be offered during the meeting, Long said. These cleanup classes are being held in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.
