The Abbeville City Council fires a pair of police officers even though Chief Tony Hardy suggested suspensions.
After more than three-hours of discussion in executive session, council moved to terminate the pair of Abbeville Officers for violating department policies.
Officers Rusty Meaux and Isiah Rochon were the two relieved from duty.
Meaux allegedly conducted a warantless search of a residence on November 1st and council found Rochon guilty of not using police video and audio surveillance- a violation of Chief Hardy's policies.
Two other officers have been placed on suspension for similar reasons.
Council cited its reason for Meaux's and Rochon's terminations as "second offenses."
Mayor Mark Piazza says while council decided these officers' employment, it's a police matter.
Chief Hardy is not commenting on these actions and would not release what led up to these findings.
