Due to an electrical switchgear malfunction within City Hall, the LUS Customer Service Center was forced to shut down today. LUS customers will not be able to make payments in the lobby or drive-thru. In addition, the LUS call center will only be able to take a limited amount of calls until power is fully restored.
In the meantime, LUS will not take actions to disconnect service to customers who have been unable to transact business with LUS due to this situation. LUS customers can pay online at www.lus.org.
LUS expects the Customer Service operation to be open and fully ready for business on Tuesday, December 29. The LCG Public Works department is working diligently to restore City Hall to full service and LUS will provide further updates as it receives them."
An electrical malfunction in the Lafayette City Hall led to a power outage at the facility this morning. Power has since been completely restored to the building.
According to Lafayette Consolidated Government CAO Dee Stanley, a faulty part in some new equipment caused the outage. A contractor has been working in the building inspecting all additional electrical equipment for safety purposes.
The portion of the building that contains the Lafayette Utilities System call center will be closed beginning in the afternoon on December 28th as it is checked for any remaining damage.
