The Lafayette Police Department has received multiple complaints of persons soliciting the sale of books in neighborhoods within the City of Lafayette. In both reported instances the suspect was a thin young white female with glasses. The suspect advises the victims that she is attempting to raise money to attend a gymnastic competition and is doing so by selling books through a company named "Experience". The order form is laminated for the victim to look over and the suspect urges the victim to pay with cash so she may receive more points for the sale. The suspect has gone so far as to tell the victims she lives in the neighborhood. It is possible the suspect has associates and could possibly be traveling in a white van.
All persons selling merchandise door to door within the City of Lafayette must have a permit from Consolidated Government to do so. Residents are encouraged to call 911 if they encounter a situation of this nature so police may identify the individuals and verify their legitimacy.
The suspects have been seen in subdivision near Pinhook and Bendel Road and off of Rue De Belier.
