Church Point Man Killed in Weekend Crash

Saturday, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on LA 356 near Hypolite Road that claimed the life of a Church Point man.
According to troopers, on January 8, 2011, shortly before 1:00 a.m., a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 53-year-old Darrell Wilson of Church Point, LA, was traveling west on LA 356 near Hypolite Road. Wilson failed to negotiate a left curve and drove off the roadway, struck a street sign, and was ejected from the motorcycle. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. This is the 3rd fatal crash and 3rd fatality Troop I has investigated this year.
