State Fire Marshal H. Butch Browning announced 24-year-old Adam Paul Carriere has been arrested again by his office for Simple Arson in connection to a fire that occurred in Church Point Louisiana, on October 20, 2009. He was arrested on January 15, 2010 for two fires set in vacant buildings located in West Feliciana Parish, where he was a Probationary Volunteer Firefighter there, for only three days before the incidents.
State Fire Marshal Investigators were called on October 20, 2009 by the Church Point Volunteer Fire Department to investigate a fire that destroyed a large metal building that was previously a rooster fighting facility located at 2200 Lawtell Hwy in Church Point. Mr. Carriere, who was a Volunteer Firefighter in Church Point, became a person of interest in the October fire and was dismissed from the Church Point Vol. Fire Department. The fire loss was in excess of $70,000. While Deputy Fire Marshal's were investigating the West Feliciana Fires they were able to obtain a confession and secured an arrest warrant today. He will face these charges in Acadia Parish once he is released from West Feliciana.
State Fire Marshal H. Butch Browning stated, "Our Investigators did a wonderful job of connecting this person to a fire that was five Parish's away and get this dangerous individual off the street". "He did this terrible crime to be a hero and to be accepted in the fire department ranks, He violated the public trust and this is intolerable, Firefighters are dedicated and loving people and serve this State with valor".
