Chief Jim Craft held a press conference today to address lawsuits filed against him and the police department. He says much media attention has been given to allegations made by a group of disgruntled employees, but because of the two lawsuits, he cannot comment specifically on them. Craft want to tell the public that in spite of the allegations, the rest of the employees of the Lafayette Police Department still come to work faithfully to perform their duties. They have not and will not deviate from the mission to protect and serve. Although they serve in the public, most employees lead private lives. Craft expressed compassion for officers who are tramautized to hear their private, what they thought were friendly, conversations in a lawsuit and heard on the news. "This selfish scheme is not working, nor will it work" , says Craft. He says he appreciates the support from the community who "is not buying into this sham" and show it through calls and emails.
