Chicot State Park Lodges Open

VILLE PLATTE, La. (AP) - The Chicot State Park is getting an
upgrade.
The Louisiana Office of State Parks is opening two deluxe lodges
on the state park on Aug. 3. Also, the park is adding a new
pavilion, fishing pier, boat launch and playground.
Stuart Johnson, the assistant secretary for the Office of State
Parks, said overnight facilities are in demand at the park. The
lodges will sleep up to 14 people and will cost $160 per night from
October to March and $180 per night on weekends from April to
September. Each lodge includes a full kitchen, living room, dining
area and covered porch area.
The Chicot State Park covers over 6,000 acres of rolling hills
and a 2,000-acre reservoir.
