Chicot State Park will host a guided canoe tour of Chicot Lake for visitors. The event will take place on Saturday, April 20 from 9 am to 11 am at Chicot State Park in Ville Platte.
Visitors will be led through the cypress-tupelo lake to learn about the different plants and animals living there. Canoeing experience is recommended and space is limited. Early registration is recommended to reserve a canoe. Visitors with their own canoes or kayaks are welcome, but registration is still required.
Chicot State Park is the largest state park in Louisiana. A 2,000-acre, man-made lake, the park offers a wide variety of outdoor activities for visitors such as camping, fishing, hiking and picnicking. The park is located in the heart of Louisiana, six miles north of Ville Platte in Evangeline Parish on La. 3042.
Day-use admission to the park is $1 per person. All programs are free with paid admission to the park.
