Charges Filed in Fatal Boating Accident

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries agents
have arrested the operator of a boat for his role in the deaths of
three of his passengers on Lake Maurepas during the Memorial Day
weekend.
25-year-old Blake Carronna was booked
Tuesday on three counts of negligent homicide.
Agents say Carronna and his four passengers got out of the
18-foot lake skiff May 29 to go swimming in the lake, but left the
boat's outboard engine idling. Authorities say Carronna was the
last to get out of the boat and, as he jumped, his knee and shorts
knocked the throttle into the forward drive position.
Agents said that caused to boat to circle back over the
passengers in the water, fatally wounding three and seriously
injuring another.
