CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - St. Bernard Parish Fire Chief Thomas Stone
says an early-morning power failure at Chalmette Refining released
at least a ton of spent catalyst powder over much of Chalmette and
Stone says that when people woke up Sunday, it looked as if a
sandstorm had blown through.
He says residents can clean it from cars and other property
without danger, but it's a nuisance.
St. Bernard President Craig Taffaro Jr. says people should
photograph it for their records before cleaning it.
