NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Chalmette Ferry has been taken out of service after it collided with a barge, causing minor damage to both vessels.
WWL-TV reports the accident happened around 10 a.m. Friday. According to the Coast Guard, three crew members and two passengers on the ferry complained of minor injuries, though none was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The accident knocked the ferry out of operation.
The Coast Guard is conducting an investigation into the crash, which has not affected traffic on the Mississippi River.
