Pre-applications are now available for Community Foundation of Acadiana's (CFA) Fund for Gulf Communities grant cycle. The Fund has been established to benefit nonprofit and faith-based organizations that help to improve the lives of individuals, families, and children and to strengthen the diverse communities that were affected by the 2010 BP Oil Spill.

CFA will make grants from the Fund for Gulf Communities ranging from $50,000-$250,000 per organization to 501(c)(3) nonprofit and faith-based organizations that service individuals and families affected by the Oil Spill in the following parishes: Acadia, Cameron, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion. Funding will be given to organizations that offer programs in the following three areas: Mental Health & Wellness, Social Services & Financial Security, and Youth Resiliency. Special attention will be given to organizations whose programs serve diverse populations and those directly affected by the Oil Spill especially fisherman, seafood industry workers, oil and gas industry workers, families, and others.

If your organization meets the above criteria, please complete the following Pre-Application and email it to Director of Philanthropy, Erin Winder, at ewinder@cfacadiana.org by noon on Friday, October 7, 2011. Pre-Applications will be scored accordingly and top ranking organizations will be asked to complete a full application.
The Fund was established through a grant from Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA). RPA selected CFA as a regional partner to re-grant dollars they were given from an anonymous donor. "Regional leaders like CFA have a deep knowledge of communities and residents and a history of trusted, effective grant making at the neighborhood level," said Amy Holmes, a senior philanthropic advisor at RPA who is overseeing the Fund.
