CENTRAL, La. (AP) - No commercial building permits will be issued for sites on certain roads in Central until an ordinance that sets architectural standards is developed and approved by the city council.
The Advocate reports Central's City Council approved the moratorium June 11, and it will stay in place until an architectural standard ordinance is approved or 90 days have passed. The vote applies to nonresidential buildings within 200 feet of the right of way on these roads in Central:
-Magnolia Bridge/Wax Road from Amite River to Sullivan Road.
-Joor Road from the Comite River to Gurney Road.
-Greenwell Springs Road from the Comite River to Magnolia Bridge Road.
-Sullivan/Central Thru-Way from the Comite River to Gurney Road.
The proposed architectural ordinance only applies to buildings on these main roads in Central.
