A Christmas Eve attempted robbery in New Orleans was caught on tape and shows a victim walking near the intersection of St. Phillip and Burgundy streets, according to the New Orleans Police 8th District.
The victim was approached by an unknown black male armed with a handgun, according to police. The gunman ordered the victim to the ground and made demands. The victim informed the suspect that he didn't have anything on him, and the suspect then fled in a dark colored SUV on St. Phillip towards the river.
Detectives recovered surveillance footage from the area. The surveillance footage shows a dark colored SUV circling the area prior to the incident.
The surveillance video shows the vehicle parking on the south western corner of the intersection of St. Phillip and Burgundy. The video shows a suspect standing on the corner for a few minutes. The video then shows the victim being followed off camera by the suspect and then the suspect running back to his vehicle and entering the passenger door.
A second subject can be seen acting as a lookout during the incident, according to police. The second subject allegedly was also the driver of the getaway vehicle.
