HARRISONBURG, La. (AP) - The Catahoula Parish Courthouse has been undergoing a face-lift.
After a water pipe burst on the courthouse's third floor during an air-conditioning renovation over the weekend, that face-lift is going to be much more extensive than originally planned.
Libby Ford, president of the Catahoula Parish Police Jury, said the pipe burst around 3:15 p.m. Saturday, flooding the third floor of the courthouse. The water then seeped down to the courtroom on the second floor, destroying both the ceiling and carpet in the recently renovated room, and eventually down to offices and storage rooms on the first floor.
Ford tells The Town Talk the water was 3 to 4 inches deep in some places.
Ford said she had "no idea" how much it will cost to repair the damage.
