CASA's second annual Balloon Release and Volunteer Recognition ceremony took place at 11 am on Wednesday, April 24.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Balloons are released in honor of those children who have lost their lives because of abuse.
CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children and be a positive presence in their life. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home.
The event was held at the Opelousas Fire Department.
