Carnegie recognizes 2 La., 4 Miss. schools

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching recognizes four Mississippi colleges and universities and two in Louisiana for working with their communities.
They're among 154 schools that applied for the community engagement classification, and 115 which received it this week.
The Mississippi institutions are Millsaps College and Jackson State University, both in Jackson; the University of Southern Mississippi, in Starkville, and Mississippi State University in
Oxford.
The Louisiana schools are Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge and Loyola University of New Orleans.
Louisiana State and Tulane universities were among 119 schools
on the foundation's list in 2008.
