Carencro Bus Accident : UPDATE

On October 23, 2009, at approximately 7:40am, officers with the Carencro Police Department responded to the 300 block of Veterans Drive in reference to a vehicle crash involving a school bus.

Upon arriving on scene, officers discovered that a Lafayette Parish School bus, which was traveling east on Veterans Drive, was struck from behind by a car.

The school bus contained three occupants, which were identified as the driver, the driver's aide and a four-year-old student. The student required no medical treatment at the scene and was released to parents. The driver and the driver's aide were transported to a local hospital by Acadian Ambulance for medical treatment.

The cause of the accident and any charges pursued are pending further investigation.

Carencro Police began working a bus accident shortly before 8 o'clock this morning. The accident occurred in the 300 block of Veterans Drive.

Details are limited, however, at this time there was at least one person reported as possibly injured. The victim was brought to a local hospital.
