It was a rude awakening for residents who live along West Simcoe.

Selena Dugas who lives next door says, "my lights went out and I heard a loud noise. I ran to the front door and that's when I saw the bus."

The bus had crashed into an unoccupied home.

Inside the bus however, students from Gethsemane Christian Academy ranging in age from four to six.

The children were said to have minor injuries.

One parent, Angela Diggs, says she got the call soon after the accident.

"He has a very good bus driver and I'm happy he took the proper measures and making sure he was safe and alright."

Police say the car that hit the bus was going the wrong way down a oneway street.

Bus driver Wilfred Bertrand says the force of the car was so strong it ran the bus through a pole and eventually into the house.

He says his first concern was the kids.

"The lord is my co-pilot," says Bertrand, "I just try to do my job and take care of them."
