On Sunday Night, the Acadiana Cane Cutters bounced back to convincingly beat the Texas Marshals by a count of 8-4 at Fabacher Field. The Cutters' offense was in the zone early as the team was able to pull away and stay away from the Marshals to earn the victory.
The Cane Cutter bats started out hot as the first six batters got on base with four hits and two walks gathering two runs for Acadiana in the home first. Texas Marshals starting pitcher, Michael Ricchi was finally getting settled in when Acadiana right fielder Blake Brom, out of Oklahoma State, hit a deep solo blast to left field in the bottom of the fourth to give the Cane Cutters the 3-0 lead.
The Marshals would rally in the fifth putting up four runs and briefly capturing a lead of their own. Acadiana would answer aggressively as they chalked up two tallies in the sixth. Perhaps motivated by a rousing version of the "Cupid Shuffle" during the seventh inning stretch performed by the Cane Cutter faithful, Acadiana's offense began to light up the scoreboard once again. The squad added three runs on three hits, giving the home team an 8-4 advantage. Pitcher Merrick Ardoin gets his number called to seal the deal as the Cutters treated to Fabacher crowd with a win. The "W" moves Acadiana to 10-12 as they look to get back over .500 on the year.
Acadiana will now hit the road for a brief two-game stay in The Woodlands before returning to Fabacher Field for a series with these same Texas Marshals on Thursday and Friday. Friday night's home game will feature the much-anticipated Paul's Jewelry Diamond Dash. Forty lucky contestants will participate in a pregame hunt for a diamond necklace valued at $2,300. To be one of the forty participants, one must win a "Paul's Platinum Ticket". These tickets are won by attending Cane Cutters' home games or by keeping up with the Canes' social media. So keep your eyes peeled for ways to cash in on a Platinum Ticket on Facebook or on Twitter, @CaneCuttersBB.
