The Acadiana Cane Cutters battled it out with the Brazos Valley Bombers Monday night, and while they gave the Bombers a run for their money, the Bombers were able to slither out another victory with the score of 5-4 in their favor.
The Bombers scored early in the first and third innings. The Cane Cutters were able to close the gap in the sixth inning with Braxton Lee's single, which started the Cane Cutter's momentum. After that Isaac Rodriguez was hit by a pitch allowing Lee to advance to second. Lee scored on Almann Snowden's hit to center field.
The Bombers were able to put an additional two runs on the board during the seventh inning and one more in the eighth, leaving the score 5-1 in the middle of the eighth inning.
The game started taking a turn when Tyler Kamtz reached on Nick Smelser's error to begin the eighth inning rally for the Cane Cutters. Smelser then committed another error allowing Brett Thornell to reach first and Kamtz second. Mitch Nau reached on fielder's choice and Kamots then scored on Rousell's single which brought the score 5-2, and allowed Nau to advance to third. Nau finally scored on a pass ball, closing the gap once again with a score of 5-3.
The Cane Cutters were able to add another run to the night's total when Tanner Vandervere reached on error, got to second due to a walk, and made it to third on a sacrifice bunt by Braxton Lee. He scored on Isaac Rodriguez's sacrifice fly, bringing the final score for the night 5-4.
