NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Candidates for U.S. Senate have made their
first appearance at a political forum, a sign that the state
campaign season is heating up.
Incumbent Sen. David Vitter, the Republican nominee on the Nov.
2 ballot, received the endorsement of the New Orleans area Alliance
for Good Government late Tuesday after a forum also featuring
Democratic challenger Charlie Melancon, independents Ernest Wooton
and Mike Spears and Reform Party candidate William McShan (Mack
SHANE).
Another forum for Senate candidates is set for Wednesday night
in Crowley.
