LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A Calcasieu Parish judge has been
pulled from a murder case because of what another judge called the
"untenable discord" between him and prosecutors in the case.
Judge Robert Wyatt rejected prosecutors' allegations that Judge
Wilford Carter could not be fair or impartial about 33-year-old
Robert D. Wilkins, who is charged with stabbing Anthony "Tony"
Fontenot in 2004.
But Wyatt's ruling last week said it's worrying that both the
District Attorney's Office and the judge have publicly shown
contempt for each other. He chastised both sides and said they
should make a truce.
He noted that each has filed complaints against the other - and
the bodies which considered the complaints have rejected both.
