LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - The Calcasieu Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness has declared a parish-wide outdoor burn ban for the next 30 days.
Director Dick Gremillion tells the American Press threatening drought conditions has affected all of Southwest Louisiana.
Gremillion said Jefferson Davis and Cameron parishes have had a burn ban in effect "for a while."
With Fourth of July celebrations falling within the 30-day burn ban, Gremillion said he hopes the dry weather conditions won't hurt the festivities.
He said no decision has been reached in regards to fireworks during the burn ban.
