On Thursday May 30, 2013 at 11:45hrs, a criminal patrol officer, for the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force stopped a passenger vehicle on I-10 for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the officer observed various indicators of criminal activity and learned that the driver, Dalisha Robert, who was not the owner of the vehicle claimed to be traveling to Nashville TN from Richmond TX. Ms. Robert was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Following the traffic stop, the officer allowed his canine to sniff the air around the vehicle driven by Robert. The K-Nine responded indicating the odor of a controlled substance was present. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed an electronically controlled false compartment in the vehicle's dash. The compartment contained 13 cellophane wrapped packages of compressed white powder that field tested positive for cocaine. The packages together weighed approximately 13 kilograms.
Ms. Robert was booked into the CCC for possession of cocaine over 400 grams.
Judge Kent Savoie set Ms. Robert's bond at $50,000.
