LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team returns to Sun Belt Conference play beginning Friday when it travels to Atlanta, Ga., to face league newcomer Georgia State at the GSU Sports Arena.

After facing GSU (6-17, 1-8 Sun Belt) for the second time in a week, Louisiana (15-8, 5-4 Sun Belt) will travel to face South Alabama (7-12, 2-7 Sun Belt) in a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
Currently on a three-match win streak, Louisiana rallied from a set down last week against GSU and claimed the final two frames in a five-set victory - improving the Ragin' Cajuns to 3-0 on the season in five-set contests after posting an 0-7 record in 2012. The Ragin' Cajuns closed out last weekend with a four-set victory at then league co-leader UALR.
The Ragin' Cajuns are led offensively by Lavinia Tataran, who is averaging 2.70 kills per set and hitting .216 at the net. Tonice White (2.23 kills per set), Sara Mossakowski (2.27) and Kaylee Nemeth (2.24) are next on offense for the Ragin' Cajuns with Andrea Hole leading the team, and ranking third in the Sun Belt Conference, with 10.06 assists.
Taylor Meade leads Louisiana and the Sun Belt Conference in services (0.33/set) and enters the weekend eight aces shy of tying former Ragin' Cajun Alisa Smith for fifth-place on the school's all-time list. Mossakowski (4th, 0.29 aces) and Hole (9th, 0.24) are ranked in the top 10 in service aces in the Sun Belt while the Ragin' Cajuns pace the league with 1.34 aces per set.
Defensively, the Ragin' Cajuns enter the weekend ranked third in the Sun Belt Conference in opponent's hitting percentage (.166) and digs (14.84/set) and are seventh in the league in blocks (1.85/set).
Libero Caitlyn Auxilien, who earned Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday, leads the Ragin' Cajuns and is fourth in the league with 4.22 digs per set. Hole (2.85), Tataran (2.51), Mossakowski (2.13) and Meade (2.02) are next for Louisiana, while freshman Chanelle Gardner leads the team in blocks per set (0.97) and is followed by White (0.61) and Nemeth (0.56).
GSU, in its first season in the league after competing in the Colonial Athletic Association, snapped a 10-match losing streak last week after earning its first Sun Belt victory over ULM. The Panthers had near misses in their slide, including five-set losses at Arkansas State, UALR and Louisiana.
Dede Bohannan, who is eighth in the Sun Belt Conference in kills, leads GSU with 3.04 kills and is ninth in the league in points per set (3.33). Natalia Nieto directs the Panther offense, ranking fourth in the league with 9.10 assists per set while libero Emily Averbeck is third in the league in digs per set (4.34).
South Alabama, which was the last team to defeat the Ragin' Cajuns, is led on offense by freshman Mechelle Daniel, who is third in the Sun Belt Conference with 3.69 kills per set. Daniel also leads the Jaguars, and is fifth in the league, in service aces (0.28) and is third on the team in digs (2.25).
Emily Hundt averages 8.76 assists per set to lead USA while Abby Baker paces the team with 3.46 digs.
