Cajuns Soccer Can't Stave Off FIU Rally

- The Ragin' Cajuns soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision in a conference match to FIU on Friday night at the FIU Soccer Stadium. The Panthers broke a 1-1 draw notching a goal with just five minutes remaining.

Louisiana falls to 7-8-1 on the season and 1-4-1 in SBC action, while FIU improves to 7-5-2 and 4-1-1 in league play. UL now ranks eighth in the Sun Belt, one game behind Sunday's opponent Florida Atlantic.

"For the bottom six teams, every game from here on out is important down the stretch," head coach Scot Wieland said. "We played really tough tonight and it was a hard fought match. We just need to continue to play hard and believe."

UL freshman Kim Moreau headed in her first goal of the season to give the Cajuns the lead in the 61st minute. The goal was set up by perfectly executed corner kick by Hayden Gibson.

FIU's Scarlett Montoya tied the match just five minutes later in the 66th minute.
The Panthers scored the game-winning goal late in the second half off Crystal McNamara's header in the 84th minute.
